Thirty-seven years of pharmaceutical data
From printing clients’ data in 1989 to the custom software pharmaceutical sales teams rely on today.
How the work changed
-
1989
Where it started
In 1989, Pat Destito was selling data-driven printing systems for IBM in southern Connecticut. The banks, telephone companies, and pharmaceutical companies in the area were poorly served for laser printing, so he started a company to do that work. Within six years it was profitable.

Over time
From printing data to making sense of it
Over time, the work moved from printing clients’ data to what the data said. PDS focused on pharmaceutical companies and their sales data. It collected the data, translated it into information a sales team could use, and delivered it in reports built for each client. Converting pharmaceutical sales data into useful information has been the core of the firm ever since.

As clients’ needs changed
From reports to software
As clients’ needs changed, so did the way PDS delivered. The reports became custom tools, and the tools became software. Today PDS runs three products. RxPulse is a dashboard for field sales teams. Enquire is a query tool for home-office staff. Agent Management shows insurance firms where every field agent stands, from first day to top performer. Alongside them, PDS still does analysis, data integration, and custom development work.
Today
PDS works from Hamden, Connecticut, and is still led by its founder. Some client relationships have passed twenty years. On average, clients stay more than twelve.
“ I have worked with PDS for over 20 years and have seen how they have continued to innovate their business.”
